 Takes the Pressure off My Upper Back August 23, 2010

I use this a couple of times a week for a group "power" or weight-lifting class (high reps, lower weights) that uses a bar. Since the bar is lifted on my shoulders for three tracks, each about 4 minutes long, I purchased this to help relieve some of the pressure I was feeling on my upper shoulders, especially towards the end of the class. I chose it because many others in my class have this brand and I have been quite pleased with it. I find that I am more comfortable during the tracks that I can focus on my form and muscles, rather than on the pressure on my upper back. I like that it is not nylon, which I found slippery, and keeps the bar from moving around on my shoulders as I squat and lunge in multiple reps.

This is perfect for doing squats. I was just using a towel at first, then I started shopping around. I found this one, and decided to try it out. It came with mixed reviews, but for me I think it's great, a little high in price, but hey whats not.

I've been using this Bar Pad for over 3 years now. I have been very satisfied with this product. 16" is long enough to protect neck and shoulders. I have been able to squat 300lbs and this Bar Pad provides enough comfort. I would recommend this product not only because it's a good product but because its comfort help maintain good concentration while doing the exercise. Before I started using this pad, I wasn't able to squat as much weight because the pain cause by the bar on my neck would Not allow me concentrate. Also, I tried two different pads from other brands and didn't work well as the Harbinger 29000 does.

This pad is great, it's not too thick, but the foam is dense enough to take the bite out of the barbell when squatting. Because it's not very thick, you can keep the bar close to your body where it should be.

Do not buy this item. This Olympic bar pad does not wrap all away around the bar. It does not fit around my Smith Machine bar, my Olympic Bar or even an old generic Olympic Bar I have. It has Velcro that attaches to each other but comes 1 inch short from attaching to each other. I gave it 2 stars because it looks nice but does not function as advertise. I wasted my money so you shouldn't.
