This powerful home steam vacuum saves you the expense and hassle of having to rent a steam cleaner and keeps rugs, upholstery, and bare floors (other than hardwoods) looking like new. The powerful 12-amp motor combined with five spinning brushes that operate at either high or low speed lift the usual dirt and grime out of carpets. By pulling on the trigger in the comfortable upright handle, this deep cleaner releases the included carpet/upholstery cleaner and hot tap water. This order was a replacement for this steamvac that we had before that broke. We are happy with the machine but was disappointed because there was a missing bolt. We spoke to customer service who then sent us the wrong bolt. It became clear that we were never going to get the correct bolt. We went to the hardware store and bought parts to make the missing bolt.

I find this VERY easy to use and clean. I like that it keeps the water heated and has rotating brushes that get all around the carpet fibers. I have used it monthly to clean a carpet used by 2 Golden Retrievers, my husband (who never takes his shoes off until bedtime) and myself. It is getting the old worn areas clean. The machine is easy to operate and it's very easy to see when the water is going down and the dirty water tank is about ready to come out. It notifies you by changing the suction and raising a yellow ball on the dirty water tank that it's ready to get dumped. See through tanks make it easy to see how much dirt you are lifting out of your carpet. Suction is good and leaves carpet only slightly damp.

This is an absolutely great machine. In the past I have rented one of those steam vacs from the grocery store and been totally disgusted -- they leave my rugs sticky and dirtier than they were to begin with. Consequently, I had my doubts as to just how effective this machine would be. BUT based on the rave reviews I decided to try it. I am soooooo glad I did. I cannot believe the dirt this thing picks up -- it's astonishing and sickening what was lurking in my rugs. It is so easy to use, but do -- absolutely do -- read the manual and follow every step. Also make sure you read Lissie's 5 star comment dated 12/1/05 before using the machine for the first time. It is extremely helpful. Believe me, you will be happy you bought this machine!

I bought this for $145 and have been happy with it. I think this will only clean as good as your choice in liquid detergent and how hot the water you use. I think carpet cleaner is a personal choice, so if you have a favorite that you know won't damage your carpet/upholstery, stick with it. I choose on both effectiveness and smell. As far as the water temperature, I have found that if I boil a 12-cup pot of water from my coffee maker and hot tap water to use in the tank to the fill line, I get far superior results. I'll clean the carpets every six months, but I can still pull very dirty water and can clearly see the difference when I use very hot water.
Unless it's a small room, one tank full will not be enough to do a big living room. After using the 12 cups from the coffee pot, either refill for another 12 cups or put a large pot on the stove to boil while you vacuum. Again, I sincerely believe this is part of the reason the professional cleaners the apartment management uses works so effectively (not just the suction) because of water temperature.
I will use the entire tank of water on a small area and let the brushes deep clean in the circular motion. Then I let it take the dirty water up in the reserve. Then I use it as a dry vac to do many more passes over the area to speed up the drying process. That way, I don't have to leave my windows open too long to dry out the carpet. When the entire area is dry, I immediately follow up with a standard hepa filter vacuum to further 'fluff' the carpet. Looks and almost smells like new!
I have not yet tried on upholstery. especially with the wand, so I cannot comment on its effectiveness. One downside is the NOISE can be deafening, so I will actually use earplugs to preserve my hearing from the high pitch.
For the price, you will not be disappointed.

This is my third unit over as many years as the product with spin has been available.
Perhaps 20 years.
The product does the job for most anything if used correctly. Do not rush makes a cleaner area. This is not a fast process but easy to set up to do rooms and areas.
Do not try to tackle an entire house on the same day. Why because the empty process and the reload with any unit of this type takes time and travel to empty and load the detergent mix. Again it does a good job and with the spin step attachment steps are a snap. For the step process the hose is a bit short and the unit has to be moved which is the pain.
Because of the ease of storage and setup to clean, its best to finish an area or several
rooms and a hall and wrap the job up for the next day or week. Position the start of you jobs near a bath where hot water is accessable and the empty is down the tolet of a utility tub. Use of the john is best for peices of debris or dirt or sand. I thought the surge would be an item not usable, but it is very effective for heavy soild areas or spots. It works well. The only reason for the rating was my disapointment with the broken locking part which when examined the plastic looked defective.
My last unit was 10 years old and I ruined it by storing it in a craw space at the beach where salt water can arrive and it did this winter.
CONS: The unit quality is at question for the new model. On the first use the upright locking unit broke without stress or a loaded tank just by tilting the unit to roll into place. The good part is that it is warranted (just register on line) and there is a repair shop within 10 miles of the units location. The unit is still usable and will be taken to the shop for repair this week.
