I live off a busy street in Chicago with many bars, traffic, and construction. My condo has zero insulation so I hear not only all of the outside noise but every word/sneeze/cough my neighbors make. I initally purchased this since I work nights and needed to block out the daytime noise. I didn't want to listen to waves or rain, I just wanted true white noise. This little machine has been perfect. It is small, travels well, blocks out all unwanted noise, and after 2+ years of use I haven't had a single problem with it. We now use this for our baby, too. I can't recommend it enough!

My daughter got this for her young child. I have problems sleeping and have every cd of rain, streams, thunder, whales, loons, and you name it. After talking to our daughter, my wife got it for me. This machine is not really a noise to make you sleep, but blocks out any other noise so you can fall asleep faster, and stay asleep longer. Have had it for a couple of weeks now. We use it every night. Hope it last for a long time.

This machine is awesome! Works far better than I expected. Marpac has created a wonderful thing. Regular sounds do not bother me but the human voice will keep me awake all night. This machine perfectly drowns out the human voice and I have not even had to use the higher setting. Nice to know it's there though. This is some of the best money I'ver ever spent.

Just fantastic!!! Sleep better than I have in years. Blocks out unwanted background noise better than any fan or gadget I have tried. I now have two in my bedroom (which is fairly large actually), on separate ends, and it's great now. I take one when I travel and love it. Highly-highly recommend it.
Gentle hum puts me to sleep July 28, 2010

Whenever I would get on a plane the gentle hum would put me right to sleep. This is the best way I can think of to describe this sound conditioner. The white noise is similar to a "whooshing" noise and can be adjusted by turning the cylinders.
I absolutely love mine and can't sleep a night without it.
I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a continuous white noise to fall asleep.
