A Great Read September 9, 2010 Joe McKenna (Kansas City, MO United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
In truth I listened to this book - The Happiness Project by Grechen Rubin. But then I purchased the book so I could highlight, copy and make notes in the margins. In a way its a self help book, but r ather than deal with dysfunction it deals with a healthy person who just wants to be a bit better. As a Personal Coach I found her process to be really healthy - and amazingly aggressive and organized. I found a number of things I will do the same as she did and have started working on my own happiness project. My only disappointment with the book is that she didn't spend much time on 'spiritual growth' and the truest happiness (my strong opinion) it brings. BTW, the audio book is narrated by the author so you really get the energy she feels about her project. I hope you read it. Joe McKenna Kansas City The KENNA Company
inspirational September 1, 2010 readingmom 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found this book very inspirational. I immediately tried to adopt lots of her ideas, like using brightly colored file bins for my children's artwork & photos & invitations; attempting to write 1700 words per day; and just acting outwardly happy. Can't wait to start my own happiness project.
great book! would read over and over agin! August 30, 2010 cole5 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
As i read other peoples reviews (alot good some bad) i bought the book to find out for myself. I am aware that Gretchen Rubin is from what i have read one of the more privileged familys of the world, she never really mentions that in her book. I have enjoyed this book from the first page and have found alot of insight and wisdom in the words she has written. I would recommend this book to all my friends (which in fact i have).I bought this book looking for a way to help find a little more happiness in my own life and most of the "commandments" and goals she sets are things that i found were missing in my life. I also have found the wed site to go along with the project very helpful. ALL IN ALL GREAT PURCHASE!!
You're happiness is unique, to you. August 29, 2010 Salvatore Saieva (NY / NJ / CT, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Gretchen Rubin, the author of The Happiness Project, is a fantastic researcher. With interest in detail she is well read on the subjects of health, psychology, religion, parenthood, work, and several other topics which she uses to create a plan for her happiness project.
Rubin is also a very creative experimenter, modifying her lifestyle and taking an objective, honest, and introspective look at her own interpersonal habits and experiences for assessing her happiness.
The book is filled with dozens of perspectives on happiness that Rubin tests through her own experiments. Some things work, and some don't, but she writes about her experiences so you can decide which approaches may be valuable to your viewpoints for leading a happier life. You won't find rules or recipes to make you happier, but you will be exposed to many ideas that you can use to craft the happiness project that is unique for you.

Cumbersome, boring -- please don't waste any more trees publishing this! August 29, 2010 Ms. Utopian Gardener (Fairhope, Alabama) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Blah, blah, blah . . . twice this book has made it into my home -- once from our public library by my choosing -- another time from a friend whom thought that I might find it interesting . . . . When resolutions need this much explanation, it is no wonder that so many individuals find it difficult to follow them throughout the year . . . . I'll just write my own and follow them -- and never burden a friend or anyone else with this waste of trees.
